So
you want to know how it feels to be a pirate?, eh.
Well, here's your chance.
The Blackwater
Pyrates is an public service association that does good deeds along the
Blackwater River in Milton, Florida and the surrounding areas. To help
support these efforts the association collects membership fees as laid
out below.
Our
organization has grown rapidly since it’s beginnings in 2005 and we
are expanding each year in an effort to support our goals of river
cleanup, boater safety, river conservation and river-related education.
We would like to extend this invitation to join us in our efforts. Thank
you for your interest in the Blackwater Pyrates.
The
cost to be a Pyrate is:
(definitions below)
Captain's
Crew: $200.00 first year (couple)
and $175.00 each consecutive year thereafter. Children are considered
single ($100.00 each). Pyrates 21 years or younger are Junior Pyrates.
Pyrate:
$100.00 per family with unlimited family members (See Junior Pyrates).
Offshore
Pyrates:
$35.00/yr per address.
Awaiting
Pyrates:
As Pyrates join, we put them in awaiting status which means if a
Captain's Crew Member drops their privileges, we start with the first
pyrates to join in order and offer them the Captain's Crew position in
order so each has a chance to refuse.
NOTE:
Privileges for the Captains Crew is still being voted upon so the number
of privileges that they have will likely increase.
PYRATE
LEVELS & DEFINITIONS:
Captains
Crew: These are the Pyrates who
pay the most dues, enjoy all the privilege of the crew, and ride on the
boat. There will be 30 slots available on this crew level based on who
signs up first. Once full, a waiting list will be formed in anticipation
of someone falling on his or her sword. If a Captain's Crew member
forfeits their position, they will get first chosen when returning, thus
passed over if they do not step forward. In other words crew, only so
many folks can get on this boat, and it has to be those most serious
about Pyrate'n. They are expected to participate in most community
events, take on educational roles, organize and chair committees, and
make a local nuisance of themselves when it comes to Pyrate'n.
Pyrates:
It is these fine crew members who work on occasion to gain favor and
participate in events throughout the year at their leisure while
enjoying Pyrate Store discounts and the monthly newsletter. These naives
can be seen fighting on shore during Riverfest, walking beside the ship
in parades, walking around dead during the ghost walk, riding in the
Pyrate taxi at the Redneck Parade, participating in committees,
educational events, or just being representative of the Pyrate
philosophy in the community. (i.e. The Civil War re-enactors are pyrates
because they shoot at the Captains Crew when they attack something, thus
the if the boat sinks, they won't be on it).
Offshore
Pyrates:
These Pyrates are limited by distance, dis-interest, limited funds and
above all, work. Since they are limited it is noted that they enjoy and
receive the monthly newsletter, can join any Pyrate function, can
receive the monthly newsletter and crew store discounts, but they could
usually care less about riding on the ship, much less working on it. So
for these limited Pyrates we have declared a modified dues schedule.
Dues
(Doubloons Due info)
For 2007, August 30th is the cutoff for dues. Cutoff, meaning those who
still receive the newsletter just for signing up will no longer receive
it, thus, we'll be having all the fun “ you'll be looking for the most
informative newsletter on the face of the planet.
2008
Dues will be payable by June 30, 2008 with a 3 month grace period.
Anyone joining during that grace period will pay the full amount of
dues. Anyone joining after the grace period will have their dues
prorated. As long as a member keeps their dues paid on time (current)
they will remain a consecutive member and hold their place within the
crew. If they stop paying and then rejoin they will have to start at the
beginning again. Example: There will only be so many slots for the
Captain's crew (30. 31 if a couple comes aboard), so you don't want to
lose your place on the boat, now do you? (See Awaiting Pyrates)
